Debt restructuring talks more complicated than expected - Jaresko

Negotiations on restructuring of a part of the external sovereign debt of Ukraine are ongoing, however are "more complicated than they were expected to be."

Finance Minister of Ukraine Natalie Jaresko said this in an interview with the Handelsblatt German daily to be released on Monday, Radio Liberty reports.

The minister ruled out that negotiations might fail, and noted: "National bankruptcy is not an option."

At the same time Jaresko urged the lenders to Ukraine to reach a compromise on this issue as soon as possible.

As reported, Ukraine intends to restructure USD 23 billion of external sovereign debt until June, when the International Monetary Fund plans to discuss granting Ukraine the second tranche of the loan program.
