Ukraine, China sign currency agreement worth UAH 54 billion

The National Bank of Ukraine and the People's Bank of China signed a bilateral currency swap agreement worth 54 billion hryvnia and 15 billion yuan.

The NBU press service informed this on its Facebook page.

"On May 15, 2015, the heads of the central banks of Ukraine and China signed the bilateral currency swap agreement worth up to 54 billion hryvnia and 15 billion yuan," the statement said.

The new agreement for a term of three years will come into force on June 23, 2015.

"This agreement is very important for our countries that are strategic partners and will contribute to the economic development of both countries. Funds received under this agreement may be used to finance trade and direct investment between two countries," NBU head Hontareva said.
